Thanksgiving in the Woods

Over the years, Thanksgiving in the Woods has been a wonderful tradition that Troop 99 enjoys every November.

The troop camped Friday and Saturday nights in Goffstown. On Saturday, the scouts spent a good part of the day cooking a full breakfast, lunch, and also found the time to do some shelter building and maintaining 3 fires throughout the day and evening. In the afternoon they were joined by 9 cub scouts from Goffstown Pack 99 and their parents.

All of this was followed up by cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner for 30 people which included turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, corn, carrots, and apple crisp for dessert. As always the star of the show was the turkey! Two 20-lb birds were cooked "trash can" style under a metal trash can heated with coals.

Three hours later!

Apple crisp was for dessert, and lots of hot chocolate.

Lots of fires were very nice on that very cold night.

Thanks to all the Leaders for a great camping weekend and Thanksgiving celebration!
