On July 11, Troop 99 scouts had an opportunity to hike a longer distance at Tower Hill Pond in Auburn, NH. Tower Hill Pond is a man-made impoundment that supplements the lake supply of the Lake Massabesic Watershed. This 8-mile hike took about 5 hours.
For this 8 mile hike the scouts packed everything they would need including water and snacks as there is no water available along the trail. One of the activities was to actually cook a small meal while on the trail using a backpacking camp stove. Stuart demonstrates!
An exciting discovery was: snakes! The scouts found a couple of large black water snakes at the edge of the pond.
Great job, Troop 99, on this extended hike!
